Tehran(IP)- Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian presented Iran's proposals to deal with the desecration of the Holy Quran at the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Iran PressIran news:  According to the Iran Press news agency, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Monday at the 18th Extraordinary Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which was held via video conference format (online): "Today's meeting should be considered as a continuation of the previous efforts of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the matter of confronting the desecration of the Holy Quran and the values of the Islamic religion."

He added: "Today's gathering shows the firm determination of the Islamic governments as representatives of the united Islamic nation to effectively deal with the sinister phenomenon of Islamophobia, hatred and discrimination and violence not only against Muslims, but also against their beliefs, principles, values, and sanctities and other divine Abrahamic religions."

Amir- Abdollahian said: "Unfortunately, the growing trend of intolerance and violence against Islam and Muslims in some European countries has become a fundamental challenge due to the support of some governing factions of this inhumane phenomenon."

He continued: The ridiculous, insulting, and hateful act of insulting the sacred space of the Holy Quran, insulting human values and the most sacred values and beliefs of more than 2 billion Muslims around the world, is another manifestation of a very worrying trend.

The head of Iran's diplomatic service emphasized: "We believe that preventing the repetition of any insult to religions, including the religion of Islam, is in the interest of everyone, and the recent bitter events in Sweden and Denmark are a collective responsibility for Islamic governments to pressure European governments to do whatever End such provocative actions as soon as possible and make the perpetrators of these crimes answerable according to the laws and punished strongly."

He pointed out: "In this context, the Islamic Republic of Iran puts forward some specific proposals as follows:

1) Sending a delegation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to Sweden and Denmark with the presence of the Secretary-General to meet with the officials of these two countries and to convey the deep concern and high sensitivity of the governments and the Islamic Ummah in the context of the recent offensive actions in these countries and to request severe punishment for the perpetrators of hateful acts. and the recent anti-Islamism in them and the delivery of criminals to the judicial system of Islamic countries.

2) The organization's Islamic Jurisprudence Assembly should immediately deal with this important issue with the agenda of proposing solutions to criminalize such derogatory actions at the national, regional and international levels, both in the real space and in the virtual space, as well as opening the chapter of inter-religious dialogue with religious leaders in Sweden. and Denmark or even at the level of the European Union in order to exploit the high capacity of the religious institutions of the parties in order to adjust the current conditions.

Amir- Abdollahian continued: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, while strongly condemning the desecration of Holy Quran, strongly emphasizes the need to take effective collective preventive measures by Islamic countries to ensure that any insult or offensive action against Islam or other divine and heavenly religions is not repeated."
