Iran Press/ Iran news: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, in a telephone call with Azhar Aziz Harun, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, stated: "We hope to see the further development of relations between the two countries by forming a joint Iran-Malaysia commission as soon as possible."
Condemning US inhumane sanctions against Iran, Qalibaf said: "In the current situation where all countries are in the crisis of the Corona outbreak, the US regime has imposed cruel and illegal sanctions against the Iranian people, which we expect friendly and Islamic countries not to comply with."
He added: "Iran and Malaysia, as two important countries in the Islamic world, should have more cooperation to strengthen unity among Muslim countries and avoid divisions."
Referring to citizens travel between the two countries, the Iranian Parliament's Speaker called for the facilitation of consular affairs for Iranian citizens in Malaysia.
Azar Azizan Harun, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, also welcomed the development of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Malaysia and said: "We are interested in strengthening relations between the two Muslim countries and developing relations between the two parliaments."
Referring to the need to implement the existing agreements between the two countries, the Malaysian House of Representatives' Speaker said: "The Malaysian Foreign Ministry and the international section of the Parliament will make every effort to implement all Iran-Malaysia agreements."
Referring to US illegal sanctions against Iran, he said: "Malaysia still has its position on sanctions, and we do not recognize illegal sanctions that are not following UN resolutions."
