Iran official, UN Special Envoy stress on advancing the resolution of the Syrian crisis

Tehran (IP) - Special Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and UN Special Envoy for Syria discussed the latest developments in the country.

Iran PressIran news: In a telephone conversation with Ali Asghar Khaji, Special Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Geir O. Pedersen, UN Special Envoy for Syria, the latest developments in the country were discussed.

During the talks, the two sides stressed the need to hold the sixth meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva in order to advance the resolution of the Syrian crisis through a peaceful mechanism.

Khaji went on to oppose the Western government's sanctions and pressure on the Syrian government, citing the difficult living conditions of the people and the escalation of the corona crisis, calling for an increase in the transfer of international humanitarian aid to the country.

In addition to appreciating the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the process of peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis, Geir O. Pedersen called for the continuation and deepening of cooperation between the two countries.
