"Once again on April 1, 1979, with an exemplary commitment, at the call of its wise leader, with the conscious presence and unique votes of 98%, it chose the holy system of the Islamic Republic of Iran to run the country and registered the day of the manifestation of the nation's resolution in establishing the Islamic Revolution in the history of Iran," the statement read.
After the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, in April 1979, a referendum of the Islamic Republic was held throughout Iran.
According to the results of this referendum, which was announced on April 1, 1979, more than 98% of those eligible to participate in the referendum agreed to the establishment of the Islamic Republic.
For this reason, the 12th of Farvardin has been named the Day of the Islamic Republic in the Iranian calendar.
