Iran Press/ Iran News: On Sunday; Brigadier General Majid Karimi, in a video conference meeting with the Chief of the Anti-Narcotics Police of Kuwait, referring to the high volume of narcotics cultivation and production in Afghanistan and the need to increase bilateral cooperation in combating the phenomenon said that the volume of narcotics smuggling from Afghanistan and Pakistan to the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran is at a high level so that most of the narcotics imported from Afghanistan to Iran are smuggled and transited to regional and European countries.
Brigadier General Karimi added: "The amount of drug detections by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2020 is about 1150 tons and in the first quarter of 2021 is 217 tons; Meanwhile, the transit destination of most of the drugs found was the countries of the Persian Gulf, including Kuwait, which with the vigilance and timely action of the Anti-Narcotics Police of the Islamic Republic of Iran has prevented the smuggling of these drugs to countries in the region."
Kuwait Anti-Narcotics Police Chief Mohammad Qabazard also called for increased interaction and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran Anti-Narcotics Police in all fields.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kuwait, Mohammad Irani, also called for increased control over commercial shipments, especially from customs points.
