Iran Press/ Middle East: Based on the agreement made between Ali Mohammad Tahmasabi, the adviser to the head of the environmental organization, the secretary of Iran’s national policymaking headquarters for dealing with sand and dust storms, the deputy of the environment and agriculture ministers of Iraq, the two countries decided to conduct a trial phase of sand stabilization within the next two months in the provinces of Wasit, Al Muthani, Dhiqar and Maysan in Iraq and Ilam and Khuzestan in Iran.
In the first stage, the Iraqi government selected 80 kilometers of one of the deserts of Wasit province to conduct the sand stabilization test in that first stage.
During the meeting, the two sides also explored ways to deal with desertification, reduce the effects of climate change, remove barriers to food security, and deal with sand and dust storms.
Tahmasabi also invited the two Iraqi ministries of agriculture and environment to attend the international environment meeting that is scheduled to be held in Tehran in September.
