Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman reminding that Iran and Iraq are interested in the expansion of mutual issues of cooperation in the framework of the neighborhood policy, stressed that to develop relations with Iraq, we always had regular talks at high levels.

Iran PressIran news: The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his weekly press conference about the visit of the Iranian Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council to Iraq, said: This trip is in the framework of security cooperation, joint fight against terrorism, consolidation of stability in the region and the common borders of the two countries.

Kanaani stressed that some incidents cannot hurt the depth and strength of the relations between the two countries, added: "This trip is a good opportunity to exchange the views of the senior officials of the two sides and to provide a basis for strengthening relations even more."

Iran rejects media reports claiming China's warning to Iran 

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the media report indicating "China's warning to Iran" and said: The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has also taken a clear status. Two countries have convergence and joint development. Iran and China have expressed their commitment to regional justice resolving conflicts and dealing with tensions.

Topics of Amir-Abdollahian talks with Pakistani officials

Referring to the main topics discussed during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Pakistan, Kanani said: The gas pipeline and the completion of the two-sided project are the most important issues discussed in the talks of Iranian and Pakistani FMs.

"This issue is of interest in Islamabad negotiations. The two countries agreed on the use of utmost capacity in the two countries' fields of cooperation. The parties are especially interested in the field of energy.

Trial of attacker to Azerbaijan Republic Embassy

About the trial of the attacker at the Azerbaijan Republic Embassy in Tehran which was held last Saturday, Kanaani said: The court verdict is a judicial process and we predict that the process will not be long.

"Last Saturday, the hearing of the attacker was held, lawyers and representatives of the Azerbaijan Republic Embassy also attended the court, Kanaani said, adding: Once again, we offer our condolences to the family of a member of the embassy who lost his life in that incident.

He emphasized that Iran's Foreign Ministry is sure that judicial authorities will handle the case within the framework of law and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"We hope to see the resumption of activities of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran," Kanaani said.

Kanaani said that the case took a long because some parts of it had to be addressed in Iran and some parts had to be pursued in the Republic of Azerbaijan: 

"For this reason, in the last one year, we have been witnessing the exchange of the top delegations between the two countries, and the officials of the two countries believe that they must not allow the enemies to take advantage of the incident."

Although the incident was harmful to the relations between the two neighboring countries, the authorities of the two countries tried to minimize its impact on the bilateral ties.

Following the armed attack, carried out by self-motivation, on Azerbaijan's embassy in Tehran on January 27, 2023, which led to the death of one person and the injury of two employees of the embassy, the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan decided to evacuate its embassy in Tehran. Of course, the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tabriz continued to operate.
