Tehran (IP) - Iran's Government spokesman Ali Rabiei has referred to a brazen and shameful admission by US officials that they were behind the recent rioting in Iran, saying the admission can be viewed as acceptance of a war crime or a clear infringement of international law.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Monday, government spokesman Ali Rabiei responded to a question from Iran Press correspondent regarding America's support for rioters and vandals and a US claim that up to a 1000 people were killed in the recent riots.

He said: "US officials have brazenly and disgracefully admitted that they were behind recent rioting in Iran. This is tantamount to an admission of a war crime and is a clear violation of international law. The Iranian people know very well what the US administration is trying to do in Iran. And this figure of 1000 people killed is just not true and is simply another lie by US administration."

Rabiei added: "The Iranian government stance is clear. We are working towards the greater unity of the Iranian people, we are working to calm things down. Secondly, we are resisting US pressure and we are steadily strengthening and improving our economy. Thirdly, we shall pursue this matter in International courts of law and within the international community. No country has the right to incite rioting and unrest in another sovereign nation."
