Supreme Council of Economic Coordination Meeting

The Supreme Council of Economic Coordination emphasized that all government bodies should fully cooperate in helping lower-income classes.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Supreme Council of Economic Coordination convened on Saturday with heads of the judicial, legislative and executive branches of government taking part, as well as other senior officials.

During the session, heads of the three branches stressed that all governmental bodies will fully cooperate in implementing fuel consumption management and helping lower-income groups, Iran Press reported citing President.ir.

Minister of Interior Rahmani Fazli presented a report on fuel consumption management as well as subsidies and other economic aid to lower-income groups and families during the meeting.

Promoting social justice, empowering 60 million Iranians with a focus on lower-income households, combatting fuel trafficking, consumption management and strengthening the economy are among the goals of the program.

Speaking on Friday in a meeting with cabinet members and a number of other officials, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said, “The government has been seeking for some time a way to help and support the lower-income groups who are under pressure because of difficult economic conditions, but it was not able to do so because of limited finances and budget restrictions”.

“Severe economic pressures were imposed on people’s lives this year and last year, and the government wants to support people by providing them with their essential needs,” he continued.

Iran has begun petrol rationing and a substantial increase in the price of gasoline is a government move which is meant to raise funds for low-income families and the needy. 101/211
