Head of Iran\\\\\\\'s Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi

Iranian scientists in the field of research and development of peaceful nuclear technology have moved from the reverse engineering phase to the design and development phase.

Iran Press/Iran News: The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization said on Tuesday during a visit to the project to build the first ion therapy hospital in the country and the West Asia region, that the specialized hospital in Alborz province, west of the capital, is for the treatment of all types of cancer through radiation of proton ions. "Only 6 hospitals of this kind have been built in the world," he said.

Ali Akbar Salehi expressed hope that the hospital would be inaugurated within next five years.

Elsewhere in his speech, Salehi said, "By researching and developing new centrifuges, we have been able to install a generation of IR-6, despite the Europeans’ protest."

According to IRNA, he also said that within the framework of achieving greater self-reliance and sufficiency in nuclear technology localization, the organization has recently launched an advanced facility with capacity to produce 60 new generation centrifuges.

Salehi further rejected the claims that Iran stopped its nuclear industry after signing the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), noting “I would like to explicitly tell the Iranian people that we will continue our movement towards fulfilling our nuclear objectives and we have never stopped and will never stop in the future.”

Elsewhere, he said that the nuclear agency used to produce 10 tons of uranium for years, while the volume amounted to 30 tons last year.

Salehi emphasized that production of uranium may increase to 50 tons if the current trend continues.
