A ceremony was held today at the Society for the National Heritage of Iran to commemorate the life and contributions of the late Professor Hossein Kariman, a prominent historian and lexicographer who played a pivotal role in the preservation and study of Iran's cultural and historical heritage.

Iran Press/Iran News:  The event, which brought together scholars, cultural figures, and academics, featured speeches that highlighted Kariman's significant impact on Iranian culture and literature.

Mohammad Shalouei, the head of the Society, led the tributes, praising Kariman's lifelong dedication to advancing Iranian studies and his meticulous research across various fields.Hossein Kariman was born in 1913 in Rudbar-e-Qasran, near Tehran.

He began his academic journey in the capital, completing his primary and secondary education before embarking on a teaching career in several of Tehran’s esteemed schools.

In 1945, Kariman earned a bachelor's degree in Persian language and literature from Daneshsaraye Ali. He then moved to Qom, where he taught at Hakim Nezami High School while also deepening his knowledge of Islamic sciences at the Qom Seminary.

Kariman completed his Ph.D. in Persian language and literature in 1956 and went on to teach at Shahid Beheshti University (formerly the National University of Iran) from 1960 until his passing.

His scholarly works include notable contributions such as "The Geography of Qom County," "Ancient Ray," and "The Life and Uprising of Zayd ibn Ali," among others.

He was also a key contributor to the "Encyclopedia of Shia Islam."In recognition of his significant contributions to Iranian scholarship, Kariman was awarded the prestigious Fourth Book of the Year Award of the Islamic Republic of Iran for his work on "The Life and Uprising of Zayd ibn Ali."

The ceremony concluded with reflections on Kariman's enduring legacy and his invaluable contributions to the fields of history, lexicography, and Persian literature.
