The Director of the International Division of the Iranian Ophthalmology Association, Siamak Zarei Ghanavati, reported a significant influx of patients from neighboring regions, Europe, and North America seeking eye treatment in Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News:  Ghanavati emphasized that Iran not only provides high-quality eye care but also attracts patients globally due to the expertise available domestically. He noted, "There is no need to refer Iranian eye patients abroad; in fact, patients from nearly all neighboring, European, and North American countries are coming here for treatment."

Despite Iran’s advanced ophthalmology services, Ghavvati explained, costs remain notably lower than in Western countries. While eye consultations in Europe or the U.S. can range from $400 to $500, imaging and surgical procedures often exceed $10,000 to $15,000, with limited insurance coverage, particularly in the U.S.

This affordability, combined with high-quality care, encourages even Iranians living abroad to return for surgeries, added Ghavvati. Looking ahead, he announced the upcoming 33rd Annual Congress of the Iranian Ophthalmology Association in November, a prominent event featuring both national and international specialists.
