Tehran (IP) - Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Iranian Expatriates' and Parliamentary Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari said that the government and the Foreign Ministry are working diligently to close the cases of Iranian citizens who are caught up in the jails by US-led policy of maximum pressure.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hossein Jaberi Ansari said at a welcoming ceremony for Iranian Physician Dr. Majid Taheri on Monday morning, "We are glad that after months of intensive and continuous efforts by Iran's Foreign Ministry in close coordination with various institutions of the country and with the cooperation of the Swiss government, it was possible to release Dr. Taheri." 

He added, "A few days ago, Dr. Sirous Asgari returned to the country. He was acquitted in court, but there was another problem. At last, he returned home."

"Unfortunately, with the unilateral US sanctions, some citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including Mr. Taheri, have been subjected to false accusations within the framework of the policy of maximum pressure," he said.

"Our main task as the executor of diplomacy and foreign policy is to pursue the case of these dear citizens who have made humanitarian and scientific efforts in a humanitarian and non-violent manner," Iranian deputy FM said.

Jaberi Ansari stated, "We are happy that today, with the return of Dr. Taheri, another page of this book will be closed. A book that is full of oppression that the United States is committing against the government, nation, and the citizens of Iran."

Iranian physician Majid Taheri who has been imprisoned in the United States arrived in Tehran on Monday morning. Majid Taheri was sentenced to 16 months in prison for allegedly violating the unilateral laws of anti-Iranian sanctions.
