Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, will embark on a six day visit to New York, United States,to attend a High-Level Meeting on Peacebuilding and Sustaining Peace on 24 and 25 April 2018.

 

Zarif will be accompanied by his deputies on the trip, and will deliver a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in New York.

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), founded in 1921, is a United States nonprofit think tank specializing in US foreign policy and international affairs.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, is also a member of the Iranian delegation, and will accompany Zarif to New York..

Zarif is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts as well as a meeting with UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

The Iranian foreign minister’s meetings and speeches will focus on regional issues ( particularly Syria and Yemen) as well as the nuclear deal between Iran and the world powers ( JCPOA ).
