The spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry, Bahram Ghasemi, reacting to Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu's televised prime-time speech, has emphasized that Netanyahu had nothing to present other than lies, duplicity and deceit.

The foreign ministry spokesman, Ghasemi, described Netanyahu's latest theatrics as the futile efforts of a morally bankrupt politician, a disgraced politician,  whose televised prime-time  presentation was "simply an effort to spread more lies and deceit".

The foreign ministry spokesman excoriated Netanyahu and Israel by saying:  "The leadership of the Israeli regime believes it can prolong its illegitimate existence by engaging in charlatanism, mendacity, and deceit. The leaders of this regime, which regularly kills (Palestinian ) children, don't seem to have the basic understanding that world public opinion, the peoples of the world, can "see through their deceit and lies".

On Monday, 30 April, Netanyahu presented a series of slides and photographs of documents which he claimed showed Iran had a secret nuclear weapons programme.

Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said on Monday that the IAEA has published 10 reports, all certifying that Iran has fully complied with its commitments.

Mogherini also said what she had seen so far , Netanyahu was not actually bringing into question Iran's compliance with the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] commitments, meaning post-2015 nuclear commitments.

She added:  "And in any case, if any party and if any country has information of non-compliance, of any kind, it can and should address and channel this information to the proper, legitimate, recognized mechanisms, the IAEA and the Joint Commission [of the JCPOA] for the monitoring of the nuclear deal that I chair and that I convened just a couple of months ago".

Analysts are saying  Netanyahu's latest claims against Iran are not really new. In fact they are a repeat or rehash of earlier American claims which came to be known as "pmd", claims which were carefully examined by the IAEA and then the whole file was closed with the signing of the nuclear accord, JCPOA, in 2015.

It is also worth noting that Netanyahu's latest claims come immediately after a trip by US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to Israel, and many are speculating that Netanyahu's latest theatrics are designed to give US president Donald Trump a pretext for quitting the JCPOA.  Trump is finding it difficult to convince the public or his critics that withdraw from the JCPOA is the right move.
