Iran's envoy to the Netherlands Alireza Jahangiri and head of the European judiciary body, Eurojust, Ladislav Hamran, discussed possible judicial cooperation between Iran and the E.U.

At Wednesday's meeting, Iran's envoy highlighted the necessity of cooperation among countries to counter organized crime,  and called for more ties between the European body and the judicial and academic centers in Iran.

Twenty-eight member countries of the EU are also members of the Eurojust. The Hague-based institute also has technical links with more than 42 countries.

At the meeting, Hamran introduced the institute in detail, and declared EU's readiness to cooperate with Iran in a number of fields, such as exchanging judicial delegations and holding training workshops for law students and professors, advocates and other judicial experts in Iran.

Eurojust is an intergovernmental organization that is active in confronting trans-national organized crime, with the aim of facilitating cooperation among European countries and all other countries that are affected by organized crime.
