The Iranian Embassy in London has criticized the British government's double standards regarding terrorism, stating that while the UK tolerates terrorism when it targets Iranians, it condemns it elsewhere.

Iran PressEurope:  The Iranian Embassy released a message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), recalling the assassination of Iran's President Mohammad Ali Rajai and Prime Minister Mohammad Javad Bahonar on August 30, 1981, by the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK), a group that was long recognized as a terrorist organization by the international community.

The embassy pointed out that despite the group's unchanged nature, it was removed from terrorist lists to exert pressure on Iran. The message also highlighted that some British MPs annually host the group's leader, and certain right-wing newspapers in the UK provide a platform for them.

The embassy emphasized the UK's double standards, noting that terrorism is deemed tolerable when it targets Iranians, yet is condemned when it occurs elsewhere.

The assassinated officials, Rajai and Bahonar, were martyred in a bombing at the Prime Minister's office by the MEK on August 30, 1981.
