Tehran (IP)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman has denounced the entry of Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Iran PressIran news: Nasser Kanaani, in a post on his Twitter account, warned about a "global project" by Zionists to violate Islamic sanctities.

He specifically mentioned activities such as burning the Holy Qur'an and desecrating the first Qiblah of Muslims in the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Kanaani stated that Ben-Gvir's presence in the mosque was another act of violating Islamic sanctities and hurting the feelings of Muslims worldwide.

Ben-Gvir, a member of Israel's far-right administration, led a group of over one thousand ultranationalist settlers to the Al-Aqsa compound in occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds.

This was his third visit to the site this year.

The minister's entrance coincided with Tisha B'Av, a fast day observed by Jews mourning the destruction of two ancient Jewish temples.

It is worth noting that Ben-Gvir has a history of making anti-Palestinian remarks and was previously a youth leader of a now-banned group that Israel considers a "terrorist" organization.
