Iran Press/ Iran news: The people of Afghanistan have been victims of US warmongering policies for more than two decades and are now the target of ISIS terrorist crimes that have infiltrated Afghanistan with US support.
In recent months, ISIS has targeted Shia mosques with the aim of creating divisions between Shias and Sunnis.
A terrorist attack on the Imam Bargah Fatemieh Mosque, the largest Shia mosque in Kandahar, killed more than 40 people and injured 70 others. ISIS claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
Several terrorist attacks had happened in Afghanistan before. The first blast occurred near Kabul Airport in the second week of Taliban governance in Afghanistan. About 200 people, including children and women, were killed in the attack, which was also claimed by ISIS's Khorasan. A few weeks ago, an explosion took place near the Eidgah Mosque in Kabul, killing at least eight people and injuring 20 others. Earlier, 46 people were killed in an explosion at a Shia mosque in Kunduz province, and ISIS claimed responsibility for the blast.

In this difficult situation, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to assist and cooperate in all possible ways to create lasting stability and security for the people of Afghanistan.
The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a telephone conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday night, expressed concern over the situation in Afghanistan and called for serious action by the UN Secretary-General in stopping and combating terrorism in Afghanistan.
The Iranian foreign minister's contacts with UN officials and the secretary-general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the emphasis on supporting the active role of Islamic organizations and countries in Afghanistan are a reminder of the importance of this issue at the regional and international levels.
