An Iranian border guard has been killed in clashes with militants in northwest of the country.

Iran Press/Iran news: The clashes took place in Baneh County, Kurdistan province on the border with Iraqi Kurdistan Sunday night.

The commander of the western province of Kermanshah's Border Guards Brigadier General Kiumars Sheikhi said that the militants intending to infiltrate the country from the border area to foment insecurity and carry out acts of sabotage, Iran Press reported.

There has been sporadic fighting with militant near Iran’s border with Iraq.

The bandits are often based in a mountainous terrain from which they carry out their hit-and-run attacks.101
