Dubai (IP) - Iran overpowered France 89-79 in the 2022 International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships on Thursday.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iran had lost to Britain 90-59 and to US 82-74 in its first two matches and beat Iraq 83-41 in the last match of Group D.

The Iranian team booked its place in the event’s final eight.

The first unofficial Wheelchair Basketball World Championships for men was held in 1973, with Bruges of Belgium being the first host city.

The US is the most decorated team in the competition with six titles.

The 2022 IWBF World Championships are being held in Dubai, UAE.
