Iran (IP) - The meeting of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission began with the participation of the Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development and Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister.

Iran PressIran News: The meeting began in Astara Port, northern Iran, and mainly addressed the grounds for more cooperation in the North-East corridor's joint railroad and land route projects. 

Iran's road minister Mehrdad Bazr-Pash and Shahin Mustafayev, First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, met at Astara as the heads of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission.

On Monday, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazr-Pash, welcomed Shahin Mustafayev, First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, at the Iran-Azerbaijan Border in Astara.

On June 21, Bazr-Pash and Mustafayev, in a telephone call, talked about the development of economic relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and the completion of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). As the head of the Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economic Commission, Bazr-Pash emphasized implementing projects which had been on the agenda.

Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iran's road minister, and Shahin Mustafayev, the Azeri deputy PM, are scheduled to visit Astrachai concrete and metal bridges, the railway port of Astara, and the customs terminals in Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.  

Relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan accelerated after the two countries' presidents' meeting on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.
