Konya (IP) - Iranian para-athletes did well at the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Sports Games at the Municipal Stadium in Konya, Turkiye, snatching 1 gold and 2 silver in para-swimming, and 2 silver in ping pong.

Iran PressAsia: During the 5th edition of Islamic Solidarity Games 2021, in the final stage of the men's ping pong tournament, Iranian athletes Hodai and Alamian were against each other, where Hodai overcame his rival 4-3 in a tight competition and won the gold medal.

Also, Iran's Neda Shahsavari snatched a silver medal losing against her Turkish opponent.

Shahin Izadyar won two silver medals in the 400 m freestyle and individual 200 m medley swimming in the para-swimming competition.

In an interview with Iran Press, Izadyar said he would do the best of his ability to take more medals during the competition.

The 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games is the 5th edition of the event, scheduled to take place in Konya, Turkey, from August 9 to August 18, 2022.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will open the games at the Municipal Stadium in Konya, Republic of Turkey, tomorrow evening.

The event was initially scheduled to take place in 2021 but was postponed due to potential travel problems caused by COVID-19.
