Iran Press/Iran news: Describing developments in the region as considerable and rapidly-changing, Abbas Araqchi told IRIB News Agency: "Afghanistan needs continuous consultations and support, in order to solve regional issues."
After meeting and holding talks with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah, Araghchi who arrived in the Afghan capital Kabul on Saturday emphasised on boosting Tehran-Kabul economic cooperation, noting that Islamic Republic of Iran's volume of exports to Afghanistan has reached $ 5 billion annually, according to an Iran Press report.
He mentioned the need for creating a new mechanism for Tehran-Kabul economic cooperation, given the new unilateral sanctions regime which the US has imposed on Iran.
Referring to his meeting with top Afghan officials, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister said Iran Afghanistan cooperation is friendly and respectful, but there are concerns and problems within the framework of these relationships.
According to the Afghan media, the continuation of the two countries' talks to finalize a comprehensive strategic partnership document, as well as Taliban delegation’s talks in Tehran were the two most important issues on the agenda of Araghchi and his accompanying delegation's visit to Kabul and their meetings with Afghan officials. 208/ 211/103
