TEHRAN (IP) - Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash and Russian officials Igor Levitin and Leonid Slutskiy met in Tehran to review the implementation of the Rasht-Astara Railway project and promote transit along the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

Iran PressIran news:  The meeting, which took place after almost three months, focused on the latest status of the INSTC, multilateral transport agreements, and the implementation process of the Rasht-Astara Railway project. The two sides highlighted the development of transit and the increase in the volume of transit through Iran.

The completion of the INSTC by constructing the 164 km Rasht-Astara Railway project was also discussed. The officials emphasized improving bilateral cooperation and implementing multilateral transport agreements to increase transit along the INSTC.

Additionally, they called for collaboration in railway development between Iran and Russia to increase freight transport between the two countries. This meeting follows a previous meeting in February, where Bazrpash hosted Levitin and his delegation to discuss promoting transit along the INSTC and accelerating the Rasht-Astara Railway Project.
