Islamabad (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced that Iran and Pakistan are committed to preventing terrorists from threatening the security of both countries.

Iran PressAsia: In a joint press conference in Islamabad with his Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Amir-Abdollahian pointed to cultural, geographical, and historical commonalities between Iran and Pakistan and said: "Iran and Pakistan have never had a border dispute and our friendly relations confirmed that we are one nation in two different geographies.

Amir-Abdollahian said: "We consider the security of our brotherly neighbor Pakistan to be the same as the security of Iran and the region and we respect its sovereignty.

Referring to the deaths of the soldiers of the two countries in the fight against terrorism, he said: In the past years, terrorists have attacked the security of the two countries. There is no doubt that terrorists in border areas are guided by third countries. They never want the benefits of the two nations.

"Today, to ensure border security and fight terrorism, economic and trade cooperation, expansion of border markets and crossings, and creating free zones are on the agenda," said Iran's top diplomat.

He also announced the invitation of the Pakistan President by President Raisi and said that the development of tourism, including pilgrimage tourism, and the finalization of cooperation projects between the two countries in energy were among the agreements of the two sides in this meeting.

Amir-Abdollahian appreciated Pakistan's support to the people of Gaza and said that Iran will continue to strongly support the Palestinian Resistance.

Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian has been welcomed by his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani at the start of an official visit to the country.

The official welcome ceremony for Amir-Abdollahian and his high-ranking delegation took place on Monday morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in the capital Islamabad.
