West Asia (IP) - The foreign ministers of Iran and Kuwait met and discussed the current developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, wrote on his X account that During his visit to Kuwait, he talked with Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, about the continuation of the war in the Gaza strip and the heinous crimes of the Israeli regime against the oppressed and innocent people of Palestine.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian traveled to Kuwait on Sunday on behalf of Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to extend his condolences to the government and people of Kuwait on the occasion of the death of the late Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

In a meeting with Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the new Emir of Kuwait, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran conveyed the condolences and sympathies of the President, the nation, and the government of Iran following the death of the late Emir of Kuwait, and congratulated the election of the new Emir of this country and stressed the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Kuwait.

Amir-Abdollahian also pointed to the good relations between Iran and Kuwait and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries will expand even more in the new era.

Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, also conveyed his greetings to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing his gratitude for the message of condolence and sympathy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He further emphasized that he assigned the mission to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other members of the Kuwaiti government to pursue the comprehensive expansion of relations with Iran at a faster pace.

The Amiri Diwan of Kuwait announced on Saturday (December 16) the death of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Emir of this country at the age of 86.

"Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah" was the 16th Emir of Kuwait who was appointed as Emir on September 29, 2020 (8 Mehr 1399). Al-Sabah was in charge of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Governorship of some provinces of Kuwait, and Deputy Chief of the National Guard. He also held the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Kuwait.

According to the Constitution of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of this country, will be elected as the new Emir of this country and the people will pay allegiance to him.
