Tehran (IP) - The President of Azerbaijan, in a meeting with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, thanked Iran for its congratulations on the liberation of the occupied territories in the Karabakh war.

Iran PressAsia: In a meeting with Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, thanked Iran for its congratulations on the territorial integrity and sovereignty and liberation of the territories of Azerbaijan from occupation in the Karabakh war.

Stating that the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran will be held, the President of Azerbaijan expressed hope that a favorable opportunity would be provided to discuss the specific projects mentioned by the heads of state within the framework of this meeting.

In his meeting with the representative of the Supreme Leader in the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, the President of Azerbaijan assessed the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan as good over the past three decades, noting the historical, religious, and civilizational commonalities of the two countries.

Aliyev emphasizes the use of the North-South Corridor

In the field of corridor cooperation, Ilham Aliyev emphasized his country's use of the North-South Corridor and benefiting from the potential of the Persian Gulf via the Aghband Passage.

Regarding the solution to the South Caucasus crises, the President of Azerbaijan also emphasized the resolution of the issues of the South Caucasus region within the framework of cooperation between the countries of the region, referring to his initiative regarding the 3+3 format.

In this meeting, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran also expressed his readiness to remove obstacles in the projects and agreements of the two countries, referring to the capacities and agreements between them. The parties also expressed their readiness to hold a joint economic commission soon and expressed their satisfaction with military cooperation, especially joint exercises.

In line with security diplomacy and to strengthen political-security relations with the countries of the South Caucasus region, Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, was welcomed by his Azerbaijani counterpart Ramil Osobov at Baku Airport this morning (Wednesday) at the invitation of his Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts in a pre-arranged visit. After Azerbaijan, the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran will go to Armenia and meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
