On Indonesia's Independence Day, the country officially shifted its capital from Jakarta to Nusantara, marking a significant change in its history.

Iran PressAsia: The Indonesian government first introduced the idea of designing a new capital in 2019. The decision to relocate was driven by the fact that large parts of Jakarta are at risk of flooding and are rapidly sinking.

Nusantara, the new capital, is located 1,300 kilometers from Jakarta on the island of Borneo.

The construction of this new capital is estimated to cost around $33 billion, making it one of Indonesia's largest infrastructure projects.
