IP - US President Joe Biden has said that the suffering of the Palestinian people is at the front of his mind as Muslims around the world begin observing the fasting month of Ramadan.

Iran Press/America: He said the US will continue efforts to get more humanitarian aid into Gaza and will work “non-stop to establish an immediate and sustained ceasefire for at least six weeks” as part of a deal that also releases captives held by Hamas.

At the same time and despite a lack of food, water, and shelter, and with Israeli bombs a constant threat to their safety, children in Gaza still celebrated the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan on Sunday evening.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Ramadan in Gaza this year will be “unlike the holy month in previous years or anywhere else in the world” in light of the destruction of all aspects of life in the besieged enclave, including dozens of mosques.

Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7. killing at least 31,045 and wounding 72,654 others. This has resulted in the deaths of more than 12,000 children since October 7, according to statistics from Gaza’s Ministry of Health. 204
