Tehran (IP) - In a phone talk, Iran's foreign minister told his Omani counterpart that if Iran's red lines and economic benefits are respected in the US answer to Tehran's written demands, a new phase will start in Vienna.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iran and Oman's foreign ministers discussed regional and international issues on Thursday, especially the latest JCPOA development and lifting the illegal US sanctions against the Iranian nation.

In a telephone conversation, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi exchanged views on Tehran's talks with the world powers to remove sanctions on Iran and discussed bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest in regional and international fields.

The Vienna Talks developments and lifting the West's sanctions on Iran were among the international and regional issues of mutual interest.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian appreciated Oman's efforts in facilitating the process of negotiations for lifting sanction-between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other parties of the international nuclear agreement or the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action dubbed as JCPOA.

Pointing to Iran's goodwill and seriousness in reaching a good and lasting agreement, he underlined that after receiving US comments, if Iran's redlines are respected and its economic benefits are ensured, a new phase will start in Vienna.

The Iranian foreign minister stressed that "we cannot speak" with certainty about reaching a good and lasting agreement until everything is agreed upon.

Elsewhere, pointing to the arrest of one of the Iranian pilgrims during this year's Hajj rituals by the Saudi police, Amirabdollahian called for the need for his release as soon as possible.

In the new round of negotiations in Vienna, centered on lifting oppressive and illegal sanctions against Iran, which was held on August 4-8, several proposals were made by Enrique Mora, the coordinator of the European Union in the talks.

Oman's foreign minister, for his part, expressed hope that with the joint cooperation of all sides in Vienna, they will witness a satisfactory outcome of the Vienna talks.

He also noted that he would pursue the release of the Iranian pilgrim within the framework of friendly relations between the two countries.

On Monday evening, Iran sent its official and written responses to the European Union's proposed plan for revitalizing the JCPOA to the European side.

EU has described Iran's responses as "constructive" and is a kind of ball in America's court to revive this agreement with its flexibility.
