Rasht (IP) - Nowadays, Rasht, the capital of Gilan province in Northern Iran, is solitude with all the shops being closed.

Iran PressIran News: The city of Rasht, which was crowded round the clock before the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, now turned out to be an easy and quiet city due to the social distancing. There is no crowd and gathering in the parks.

The measure is aimed at breaking the transmission chain of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Only a few people who have been observing the hygienic principles and protocols are on the streets jut for shopping the basic items they need.

Zahab Martyrs' Square, Saadi, Imam Khomeini (RH), Alam al-Huda and Sabz Maidan streets, which have always been considered as the crowded parts of Rasht, today are not crowded anymore.

Worldwide, the total number of infections recorded since the beginning of the outbreak reached more than 1,350,000. Nearly 285,000 people have recovered globally, while the global death toll has neared 75,000.

In Iran, more than 60,000 have been infected with COVID-19, nearly 3,700 have died and the number of recovered patients has reached 24,000.
