Iran Press/ Middle East: The curtain of the Kaaba was changed on Wednesday night as usual.
The kiswa (Curtain of Holy Kaaba) change occurs annually on the 9th of Dul Hijja, which marks the day when Muslims head to Mount Arafat to witness the most important ritual during Hajj as the Kaaba gets its old cover replaced with a new one.
In the texture of the Kaaba curtain, 670 kg of pure black silk, 120 kg of gold thread, and 100 kg of silver thread have been used to write Quranic verses on it.
Due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus, this year's Hajj will be held under strict health protocols through exercising social distancing.
The number of pilgrims is also very small compared to previous years, reaching 10,000, all of whom are Saudi citizens or foreigners living in Saudi Arabia.
