Iran Press/Iran news: French police have fired tear gas to disperse the "yellow vest" anti-government protesters marching on the grandest avenue in the French capital Paris Champs-Elysees, on Saturday morning, Iran Press reported.
When protesters tried to break the police blockades, riot police used tear gas and water cannon against protesters which led to violent clashes.
According to French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe speaking at the Paris police's command center, "at least 107 people have been arrested during the Saturday clashes, and 36,000 people participated in protest across France, including 5,500 in Paris.
French police announced that 65 people, including 11 officers, were injured in the protests.
The protests initially began last month after French President Emmanuel Macron announced controversial hikes in diesel prices a pretext for encouraging a transition to using greener energy.
Also previous protests have ended with violence, with two people killed and over 600 injured.

Over the past year, the cost of diesel, the most commonly used fuel in cars in France, has risen by 23 percent.
But now increase of diesel turns to protest against Macron, whom many consider him neither understands, nor cares how people live.
Macron took office last year with a pledge to revitalize the economy; but many people complain that Macron economic policies benefit companies and the rich not low income people.
