Iran Press/West Asia: Sheikh Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah emphasized Hezbollah’s commitment to supporting Gaza and noted their readiness to confront any imposed war. Reflecting on the recent conflict, he stated, “We did not seek war, but when it was imposed on us, we faced it head-on with strength and determination.”
He recounted the timeline of events, explaining that 64 days ago, a large-scale ground offensive targeted Lebanon, with Israel aiming to destroy Hezbollah, displace settlers in northern occupied Palestine, and establish a new Middle Eastern order. Despite initial challenges, Hezbollah regrouped, reestablished command, and inflicted significant losses on Israeli forces.
Key Points from Sheikh Qassem’s Address:
Resistance and Resilience: Hezbollah maintained its ground, causing extensive casualties and equipment losses for Israel. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis reportedly fled northern areas of occupied Palestine.
Psychological Impact on Israel: The steadfastness of the resistance caused widespread despair among Israeli politicians and society, undermining the morale of its military and civilian population.
Strategic Victory: Qassem emphasized that the resistance did not initiate the conflict but emerged victorious, forcing Israel to cease its attacks without achieving its objectives.
Lebanon’s Sovereignty and Coordination
Sheikh Qassem clarified that the ceasefire agreement aligns with Lebanon’s sovereignty and involves close coordination between the resistance and the Lebanese army to implement related commitments under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
He praised the role of the Lebanese army as a national institution and reaffirmed Hezbollah’s dedication to defending Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
Tribute to Allies and Martyrs
Expressing gratitude, Sheikh Qassem honored Hezbollah’s martyrs and military personnel, with special recognition for the late General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. He also acknowledged support from regional allies, including Iran, Syria, Yemen, and Iraq, and reiterated Hezbollah’s unwavering backing for Palestine.
“The road to freedom and dignity is paved with sacrifice,” Qassem concluded, reaffirming the resistance’s resolve to continue its mission in defense of Lebanon and Palestine.
