Palestine (IP) - A retired Israeli military general says Hamas’ military wing, the Izz ad-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, has recently recruited around 3,000 young fighters aged between 18 and 20.

Iran Press/West Asia: According to a report published by the Israeli Maariv newspaper, Itzhak Brik, a former general in the Israeli army, said the regime is now less capable than ever of dismantling Hamas, as the Palestinian resistance movement continues to maintain control over the Gaza Strip.

All events continue to unfold underground in tunnels, and the Israeli army has no control over anything, Brik stated, emphasizing that Hamas remains the governing authority in the Gaza Strip.

Brik also noted that Israeli forces have repeatedly returned to the Jabalia area during ongoing Israeli aggressions. He acknowledged significant losses among Israeli troops in multiple areas, warning that the military is increasingly at risk in its attempts to establish control.

The retired general further admitted that Israel’s military lacks the capacity to eliminate Hamas, citing insufficient forces and an inability to maintain a presence in areas they have briefly occupied. This is why they cannot wrest power from Hamas, Brik explained.

He went on to criticize the Israeli regime’s strategy, describing the ongoing airstrikes as “aimless bombings” that fail to target Hamas effectively. Brik said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu uses these excuses to abandon the captives who are dying in the tunnels, because the premier continues the war in order to stay in power.
