Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of the Guardian Council, addressing students' questions at Tarbiat Modares University on Tuesday, stated that Iranians determine the fate of the country by participating in elections.

Iran PressIran news: Referring to the two important upcoming elections, the spokesman of the Guardian Council, Hadi Tahan Nazif said: "One of the most important rights of a nation is the right to self-determination."

Tahan Nazif emphasized that according to the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the country is governed by public votes, and every election has its mechanism.

Referring to the concept of "religious democracy", Tahan Nazif said: "This feature distinguishes Iran's elections from other countries.

The spokesman of the Guardian Council added: "The will of the people determines the fate of the country and protecting people’s votes is of utmost importance.

Referring to the approval of the qualifications in the elections, he said that examining the qualifications is important from the perspective of the right of the candidate and the right of the people so that those who can be worthy representatives of the people are approved.

The spokesman of the Guardian Council said: "Correct election culture" is not created by the law alone, because an important part of the culture is formed by various organizations and institutions, and the student movement is also very effective.

Referring to the role of students in reforming the election culture, Tahan Nazif said: "By improving their election culture, students can demand a correct election culture and not be influenced by political currents. Regarding the obstacles to the people's participation in the elections, he said: "The sense of hopelessness" is the most important issue that is instilled by the enemies of the people, while the solution to the society's problems depends on forming a strong and efficient parliament. 219
