Governor of Iran Central Bank arrives in Baghdad

Baghdad (IP) - Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Abdolnaser Hemmati arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Monday morning for a one-day visit to expand banking cooperation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Hemmati headed a delegation to Baghdad to expand banking cooperation in the field of trade relations and to meet with Iraqi high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, the Minister of Finance Ali Abdul-Amir Allawi as well as the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq Mustafa Ghaleb and Trade Bank Governor Salem Jawad Abdul Hadi Al-Jalabi.

This is the second visit of the Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq in the last four months. Hemmati also visited Baghdad on 17 June.

During his previous visit, he met with the Prime Minister, Governor of the Central Bank and Minister of Finance of Iraq to discuss financial and economic relations and the development of relations between the two countries.

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered an important part of his consultations and talks related to Iran's financial claims as a result of the sale of energy (gas and electricity) to Iraq.

At the end of his visit in June, the Governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran met the Prime Minister of Iraq, and al-Kazemi had said during the meeting that he had personally ordered the problems related to the payment of Iran's financial claims to be resolved.
