Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Government Spokesman says Iran will become a member of the UN treaty for using electronic communication in the near future.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, Ali Bahadori-Jahromi said that with the proposal of the Foreign Ministry being submitted to the cabinet, the membership would be started to be pursued. 

"The administration has agreed to the proposal of the Foreign Ministry regarding the ratification of Iran's use of the UN Electronic Communications Convention in the international agreements."

Using electronic communication will facilitate Iranian businessmen's international activities through the omission of paper documents, bring about transparency in trade processes, and stop corruption through forging documents.

He also reported that the Culture Minister and the Science Minister joined the country's special task force for the digital economy.

The task force formed last year, seeks the coordination and lead the development of the digital economy and achieve a 10% share of the country's digital economy out of the country's entire economy.
