German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas

IP- German Foreign Minister on Wednesday urged Iran to return to the Vienna negotiations on reviving a nuclear deal.

Iran PressEurope: "If we don't want to jeopardize what we have achieved so far in Vienna we cannot stretch out the negotiations into eternity," Heiko Maas told journalists in Berlin, without mentioning the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed on July 14, 2015, between Iran and five permanent members of the Security Council plus China and Iran and faced with problems after the US President Donald Trump administration took office in the United States.

US former President Donald Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from the agreement. Following the U.S. unilateral withdrawal from the legally binding agreement, France, Germany, and Britain, known as E3, also failed to abide by their commitments.

The E3 officially set up a European mechanism, called INSTEX, to facilitate non-dollar trade with Iran, but it was not realized.

"We expect Iran to return to the negotiating table in Vienna as soon as possible, and to do so with the necessary flexibility and readiness for compromise to strike a deal," the German Foreign Minister said.
