Iran Press/ Iran news: According to Iran Press News Agency, in a ceremony, which was held this morning at the Iranian Wrestling Federation, the plaque of the anonymous martyr was presented to Mohammad Reza Geraei by the son of Martyr Bastamipour.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Iranian Wrestling Federation, Alireza Dabir said: "I hope that the culture of self-sacrifice in sports will be promoted, and wrestlers will know that it is because of the bravery of the martyrs that we are safe now."
Mohammad Reza Geraei, the Olympic and world champion said: "On the night we wanted to travel to Norway, I promised to this martyr that I would give him my gold medal if I won it. I was 5-1 behind in the wrestling with Georgian athlete, but in the last 12 seconds I remembered my covenant with this martyr and I was able to win and reach the final."
"In the final, I was able to win Gold and keep my promise," he said.
