Iran Press/Iran News: Major General Hossein Salami said: "After the assassination and martyrdom of the great Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his companion, we were completely in the psychological atmosphere of an unknown war with America and it was thought that the authority and glory of the great Iranian nation had been affected by the assassination."
"The pressure of public opinion for revenge was heavy and we, like all of you, were affected by the incident; we had lost one of our best brothers, a myth, a great backbone," he added.
Major General Salami said that the US had martyred our top commander and warned that it would hit 52 points of the country if the Islamic Republic reacted, adding that: "We were under pressure to take quick revenge. The US had come to say the last word to the Iranian people, to break the Iranian nation forever and close our hands. The US had come to show that our way of dealing was one-sided and that we were not responding."
The Chief Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps highlighted that Iran's retaliatory response to the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani should have been commensurate with the US crime and what Iran wanted to fly had to reach to the destination.
He underlined that defeating America technically and technologically was important for the country because our battle was a battle of technology, a strategic, and a technical battle.
"We wanted to launch a war that would prevent the Great War, so we had to surprise them and deceive the enemy, and we had to prepare for the reaction," Major General Hossein Salami added.
He further explained that the American flights, electronic warfare, reconnaissance flights, and their defenses on the sky, and they were all ready at the night of the operation and revenge.
Major General Hossein Salami noted that: "I wish I were in the Ukraine plane and were killed with the passengers, but not to see this sad story. Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps forces are all standing to sacrifice themselves for the nation's security, prosperity, and peace."
