Hours before President Trump's announcement on the Iran deal, former US Secretary of State John Kerry urged him to stay in the agreement.

John Kerry former US secretary of state in an exclusive interview with CNN said on Tuesday, our friends would be safer if we stay in this agreement and he urged president Trump not to withdraw from the pact.

Kerry says Iran cannot physically make nuclear weapons right now because it only has the 300 kilograms (661 pounds) of low-enrichment uranium allowed.

He added, I think the best thing president could do is use this agreement and staying in the agreement.

He mentioned I have been a secretary stat and had a good relationship with the other foreign minister and I stayed in current, that is normal for any secretary of state I am not engaged in any particular strategy but I certainly think the president should stay in agreement.

US President Donald Trump said he would announce a decision on the future of the Iran nuclear deal at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday.

Iranian leaders, however, have repeatedly stressed that the JCPOA is non-negotiable and dismissed the possibility of continuing with the agreement solely with America's European allies.
