Tehran (IP) - Iranian Deputy Defense Minister said that no foreign countries should have a military presence in the region.

Iran Press/Iran News: On the sidelines of the 2nd National Islamic Mayors and Councils Conference on civil Defense, Infrastructure and People safeguarding, Brigadier General Ghasem Taghizadeh said, "There are some possible cooperation grounds between Iran and the regional countries to move toward a possible regional security agreement."

"We have the capability to defend ourselves, and through collective efforts, we can guarantee the security of all regional countries in the Persian Gulf so we believe that no foreign countries should have a military presence in the region," he further said in an interview with Iran Press.

"We are looking for a peaceful region in the Persian Gulf, and we have been insisting on defending ourselves. We have also persisted to be strong," Iranian Deputy Defense Minister, pointed out. "If you are looking for peace, you have to prepare for war," he added.

The 2nd National Islamic Mayors and Councils Conference Civil Defense in the field of Infrastructure and People safeguarding held at the conference hall of Ministry of Interior, Saturday morning October the 5th 2019. This conference was attended also by the head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization, Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, Iranian Deputy Defense Minister, Ghasem Taghizadeh,  and Pirouz Hanachi, Tehran's mayor.101/219
