Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Foreign Minister says the exchange of prisoners and the release of Iran's blocked money were pursued during the past months with Iran-US indirect messages, but the Islamic Republic never seeks such a temporary agreement.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remark along with addressing other issues while holding a press conference on Monday, on the occasion of the National Day of Journalists. 

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told reporters on Monday that Iran has never put aside diplomacy and negotiation, and from the beginning of taking power, Raisi's administration made its efforts to lift the unilateral US sanctions on Iran through diplomacy.

Amir-Abdullahian said the efforts were made in two directions; one followed negotiation on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to lift sanctions within the framework of the internationally signed agreement, and the other adopted measures to neutralize the very sanctions. 

With regard to the exchange of prisoners between the US and Iran, and the release of the blocked money abroad, he said in the agreement signed between the two countries through the third party, two separate minutes were recorded. 

The Iranian FM pointed to the US propagandistic claim that Iran bothers its neighbor Iraq for money and pointed out: "The relations between Tehran and Baghdad are strategic relations; when we export electricity and gas to the neighboring country and the funds are deposited into an account, it is our natural right to have access to those funds."

The US puts pressure on the countries where the Iranian assets are deposited to block it otherwise, they will be punished. 

Arash oil Field should be resolved through technical negotiations

Iran's Foreign Minister said that he had discussed Arash joint oil and gas Field with his Kuwaiti counterpart and urged the issue to be resolved through technical negotiations and diplomacy.

Amir- Abdollahian said: "I talked to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait about the Arash oil field, this is a legal issue and should be resolved through technical and legal negotiations and diplomacy."

Amir-Abdollahian further warned: "In this matter, one must not pay any attention to media controversies, and our territorial integrity should not be infringed."

Judiciary investigating Baku-based elements of Azeri embassy attack

The Iranian Foreign Minister says the Judiciary is pursuing the dimensions of Azerbaijan's embassy incident while visiting the Republic.

With regard to the challenges caused between Tehran and Baku due to the incident that happened to the Azeri embassy in Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told reporters that he reviewed the commonalities of the two countries with the Azeri President Aliyev. 

In the armed attack of a person on the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran on Friday, January 27, 2023, one embassy security guard was killed, and two other guards were injured.

Amir-Abdollahian reported about his meeting with Aliyev, saying the embassy attack had ambiguities and that although the incident happened out of personal motivation, Iran regrated that it happened on Iranian soil. 

He stressed that Iran never neglected to deal with the issue of the embassy attack, noting that he reminded the Azeri president that such an incident may happen for other embassies across the world as it took place for Iran's diplomatic sites in England and Afghanistan.

The Iranian FM said the Iranian Judiciary's delegation is working on the incident's dimensions and the contributing elements in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and any side recognized culpable would receive punishment in the case.
