Iran Press/Iran News: Former Iranian President Seyyed Mohammad Khatami said that the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani is a huge loss for Islam and Iran that can only be compensated by the special grace of God.
"Dear Soleimani's martyrdom at the hands of aggressive American criminals, although made him the lofty goal of martyrdom in the cause of God and serving the people, the incident grieved all the lovers of virtue, endeavor, and the freedom of the oppressed," Khatami stated.
Martyred Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Friday Morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.
Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
