Iran Press/Iran news: EU acts to protect Iran's interests under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and to compensate the damage inflicted on the country by US sanctions, were not enough and were not effective but we will do our best to make a difference, Emmanuel Macron said in this phone call on Saturday night.
French President described the deal a critical factor to regional stability and it is up to the remaining signatories to keep it alive, Iran Press reported.
Iranian president for his part, called US sanctions against the nation, economic war and act of terrorism and warned that this unilateral act could endanger regional and international peace.
Hassan Rouhani also urged the European Union to take practical steps to honour its commitments to the JCPOA in order to keep the nuclear deal alive.
The phone call came as Iran is set to announce more reductions in its commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal on Sunday, at the end of the 60-day ultimatum.
Iran has warned that it would start enriching uranium at a higher level unless other European signatories to the deal protected its economy from the US sanctions within 60 days. 101/211
