Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking in a weekly press conference on Monday, Bahram Ghasemi expressed regret that Europe’s proposed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)) has not become operational due to “limitless American” pressure and said “I hope Europe will be able to defend its identity in the face of these pressures."
Ghasemi added that Iran is still hopeful the European trade mechanism will be put in place, but at the same time Iran has many alternatives for trade, such as India, China, Russia and Turkey, Iran press reported.
"We think Europe is incapable of standing against US growing pressures regarding the promised financial mechanism for financial and trade exchange, and it does not have the ability to defend its identity and financial and economic institutions in the face of these pressures," he noted.

This is Europe's Achilles heel and if they could not resist the pressures to define the mechanism, the world will definitely change their attitude towards them, Ghasemi said, adding Europe would lose its current position in the global arena.
Pointing that the aim of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was not economic he added, JCPOA has followed various issues.
Bahram Qasemi confirmed that a Taliban delegation held extensive talks with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs Abbas Araqchi in Tehran yesterday.
Ghassemi also said the meeting followed a recent visit by the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamhani to Afghanistan during which he held talks with Afghan officials.
Following the visit, he said, a Taliban delegation travelled to Tehran on Sunday to hold detailed talks with Araqchi.
Referring to the current chaos and insecurity in Afghanistan and the fact that Taliban militant group has over 50 percent of Afghanistan territory under its control, the spokesman said that during Shamkhani's visit to Afghanistan the group's leaders expressed interest in meeting and talking to him. He noted that the Afghanistan government was fully aware of the meeting and the negotiations.
Qasemi added that the negotiations between two sides mainly aimed at facilitating dialogues between the Afghan groups and Kabul administration to advance peace process in the country.
Given the Iran-Afghanistan historic and cultural background and the two countries' long joint borders, Qasemi added, Iran is quite willing to play a pivotal role in establishing peace and tranquility in its neighboring state especially now, after Shamkhani's meeting with the Afghan government.101/202
