Iran Press/ Europe: The talks were held Thursday in Paris in accordance with the agreement between the Presidents of Russia and France on issues of strategic stability and arms control, ahead of the upcoming meeting in France Capital of the Cooperation Council on Security Issues (CCQS), which will be attended by the French and Russian Foreign and Defense Ministers.
The Russian and French officials talked about Iran's nuclear program also the crisis in Libya and Syria, and control over arms.
During the talks, the two sides also stressed the importance of Russian-French cooperation on other important issues on the international agenda, including information security, environmental protection, and climate change, and cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus.
On Thursday in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, emphasized the importance of full implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as an international commitment for the signatories, called for countering US unilateralism and Its recent efforts to end Iran's arms embargo.
On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the international agreement and announced the return of nuclear sanctions, in violation of Washington's commitments under the UN Security Council.
