The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nikolay Mladenov

The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process said that the Israeli regime still continues its settlement constructions in Palestine's lands, ignoring the Palestinians' rights and violating international law.

Iran PressAmerica: Nikolay Mladenov expressed concern over the Israeli regime's construction in the West Bank and East al-Quds, reporting a 70 percent increase in the illegal construction compared to 2018.

He said that the Israelis' expansion of settlements in the Palestinian lands is the main barrier on the way of peace maintenance in the region.

Participating in the UN Security Council meeting last Wednesday, Mladenov referred to the implementation of Resolution 2234, adding that no measure has been taken, since the implementation, to stop the Israelis' settlement construction in occupied Palestine including East al-Quds.

Since the victory of the US President Donald Trump in 2016, the construction of Israeli settlements has been increased.

Israeli settlement construction in the occupied territories is an old issue in Palestine. In a six-day war with Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, the Zionist regime seized territories, including the Eastern al-Quds and the West Bank and immediately began building settlements there. 104/207
